Thompson Rivers University (TRU) offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, diplomas and certificates on the main campus in Kamloops, certificate and diploma programs from its regional campus in Williams Lake and smaller communities, offers distance programs through Open Learning, and has a strong presence internationally through TRU World.
More than 6,700 full-time and 4,400 part-time students study on campus, including 1,600 international students from 90 countries and regions; a further 15,000 students take distance and online courses via TRU-Open Learning. TRU has a strong contingent of 1,600 registered aboriginal students and offers strong support services and elders to assist students with the transition from communities to university.
In September 2011 TRU launched Canada’s first new law school in 30 years. Upon completion of the program, graduates will earn a TRU Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree that recognizes the curriculum collaboration with the University of Calgary.
Since September 2005, TRU has been a member of Canadian Interuniversity Sports, competing in the Canada West Conference in men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. WolfPack teams also compete in soccer, badminton, baseball, golf and hockey. Athletes train at Tournament Capital Centre located on campus, which offers an Olympic length pool, FIFA-certified field, internationally acclaimed track and field facilities, modern training centre, and well-equipped gymnastics centre.
TRU is situated on a spectacular 100-hectare campus ideally located within a vibrant, safe, interior city. The campus is also readily accessible to all-season recreation and enhanced lifestyles, including some of the best skiing, mountain biking, hiking and water sports terrain in the world.
