At Nipissing University, learning is about much more than a university degree. Nipissing offers students a supportive community and an engaged faculty of teacher-scholars to ensure every student has a chance to grow, lead and chart a path to a successful future. Flexible programming allows students to choose their own minors and majors based on interests. Undergraduate students have unparalleled opportunities to participate in original research, interact with faculty and engage in a wide range of enriching co-curricular activities. It’s the Nipissing experience, and Nipissing students rave about it.
The main campus in North Bay is on a stunning 291 hectares of pristine Canadian Shield forest. It offers degrees in applied and professional studies, arts and science, and education. Nipissing’s Schulich School of Education, the only named faculty of education in Canada, has an international reputation for preparing teachers who excel in the humanities, social sciences, creative arts, science and math. Nipissing has two regional campuses. The Muskoka-Bracebridge campus offers degrees in culture and the arts, child and family studies and liberal arts, as well as education. In Brantford, Nipissing delivers a concurrent Bachelor of Education program in a unique two-university partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University.
Nipissing has a long tradition of innovation. Its Faculty of Education was the first in Ontario to incorporate laptops in both the classroom and curriculum. Business students receive iPads to enhance classroom learning and connect students. Students can choose an international teaching practicum, where they can practice-teach in international settings such as Kenya, Cameroon, China, Italy and the U.K. The Office of Aboriginal Initiatives provides important connections between communities, students, academic programming and support services for Aboriginal students.
Students enjoy small classroom environments where faculty get to know learners, and where students can share with classmates. The university offers students outstanding guaranteed entrance scholarships, awards, on-campus jobs and other opportunities to support their studies.
