The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is an innovative and market-oriented institution pursuing inquiry, discovery and application through excellence in teaching, high-tech learning and value-added research, and combines these endeavours with a vibrant student life. Since opening its doors in 2003, UOIT has quickly grown to more than 8,400 undergraduate and graduate students (as of September 2011) and has attracted hundreds of international students representing nearly 70 countries. UOIT offers a wide range of 43 undergraduate and more than 20 graduate programs through its Faculties of Business and Information Technology; Education; Energy Systems and Nuclear Science; Engineering and Applied Science; Health Sciences; Science; and Social Science and Humanities. UOIT’s bridge programs also provide opportunities for college graduates to turn diplomas into university degrees.
UOIT’s technology-rich learning environment includes laptop computers loaded with program- and industry-specific software for all students. One of the greatest advantages to its national award-winning mobile learning environment is all students enjoy equal access to the same technology, resources and services.
The university has two locations within a 10-minute drive of each other. Each features state-of-the-art lecture theatres, classrooms, labs and academic offices. The north Oshawa location is home to the award-winning library and Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre which offers extensive health services. The General Motors of Canada Automotive Centre of Excellence, a world-class automotive research and development centre that includes a climatic wind tunnel, opened in 2011, along with the 9,290-square-metre Energy Systems and Nuclear Science Research Centre.
Located in the city of Oshawa at the east end of the Greater Toronto Area, UOIT is conveniently close to shopping, dining, museums, entertainment and sporting activities and less than an hour’s drive to the heart of Toronto, Canada’s largest and most diverse city.

Note: In addition to tuition fees, universities generally charge fees for goods and services supplied to students. This includes areas such as student associations, sports and health.
