The University of Regina is one of Canada’s leading comprehensive universities – a dynamic institution with a strong national and international reputation for teaching and research.
With roots going back to 1911, the University of Regina has grown in response to the needs of the province of Saskatchewan. The university’s 11 academic faculties and 25 departments provide a comprehensive set of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs, preparing students to excel in diverse disciplines at the local, national and international levels.
Specialized programs have long been offered in a number of areas, including journalism, education, social work and business administration. A cooperative education program – the first in Western Canada – is also available in arts, business administration, engineering and science.
In recent years, the University of Regina has developed many innovative program offerings. For example, the university is home to the first Bachelor of Police Studies program to be offered in Canada as well as Western Canada’s first Bachelor of Health Studies program.
The University of Regina has launched a unique program – a first in Canada – guaranteeing students a successful career launch following completion of their undergraduate degree. Students who complete the UR Guarantee program but cannot find career-track employment within six months following graduation may take up to 30 undergraduate credit hours during the following year, with the cost of tuition (waiver) covered by the university. Under the UR Guarantee program, students will take advantage of academic success, campus engagement, service leadership and career counselling opportunities to prepare them for the job market in their chosen field.
Educational opportunities at the University of Regina are enhanced by more than 60 research laboratories, centres and institutes, as well as collaboration with industry partners at the adjacent Innovation Place – Regina. The campus also includes three federated colleges – Campion College, Luther College and First Nations University of Canada – that further diversify students’ educational experience.
The university is located in the heart of Regina’s Wascana Centre, the largest urban park in North America. This picturesque location offers an attractive work and study environment for nearly 13,000 full- and part-time students, more than 1,500 full-time faculty and staff, and approximately 750 casual employees.
