Founded in 1910, St. Thomas is one of the top undergraduate universities in Canada. Distinguished faculty are committed to teaching students, and classes are small, with classroom and study venues modern and fully equipped.
St. Thomas University is located on Canada’s beautiful east coast in New Brunswick. The campus sits atop a hill overlooking the capital city of Fredericton and the St. John River Valley. Fredericton is a friendly college town (population 85,000) that is home to two universities. New Brunswick has three airports with daily flights to international destinations.
St. Thomas University is unique in Canada with its sole focus being liberal arts education. Students graduate with bachelors of arts, applied arts, education or social work. They can chose from among more than 30 academic disciplines from traditional fields like philosophy, history and languages, to newer programs in journalism, human rights, criminology, environment and society, and Native studies.
Small classes — no class is larger than 60 and an average class size is 31 — encourage students to participate in discussions with their peers and professors. Teaching is the highest institutional priority. The professors are distinguished scholars, authors and public commentators, and through a variety of teaching approaches – lectures, readings, discussions, group activities, debates, research assignments, writing, on-line discussions – students learn to think critically. The campus is nationally recognized for its beauty, which contributes to the exceptional learning environment.
